4 Steps For Your Social Media Audit

It's quite likely that you will already be using some social media channels but perhaps you don't yet have a clear plan or strategy for these platforms. Having a clear plan for how your business will use channels is likely to greatly benefit your marketing strategy - but before you start setting your strategy it's time to complete a social media audit.
Here are four steps to getting started with your social media audit process:
1. Create A Document For Your Audit
The first step to your social media audit is to create a document that works for you in order to document your findings. This is most likely going to be an excel spreadsheet with your social media channels down the left hand side and a number of metrics along the top. Be sure to include your follower count, average like/share, average comments, the frequency you are posting.
2. Examine Your Profiles
Now is the time to examine each of your profiles and fill out your document. As well as doing that, ensure that you're looking at whether or not your branding is correct and consistent? Do all your social media channels have a consistent handle or URL?
3. Examine Your Competitors Profiles
Take a look at your competitor profiles and see what is working well for them, or what isn't. How often are they posting? What kind of things are they posting? How many followers do they have? It might also be worth noting this in your document that you created at the beginning of your audit.
4. Analyse Your Findings
Once you've documented your findings from looking at your social platforms, it's time to look at the success of each of your channels and if there is anything you need to work on. The purpose of a social media audit is to give you a better understanding of where you are currently and to make plans for the future. Use all the information that you have gathered and documented to create new objectives and goals for the month.
